Wild Trout Fly Fishing Trips

Wild Brook Trout Trips

The Southern Appalachian Brook Trout is the only trout native to western North Carolina. These trout thrive in high altitude creeks where the water is free of pollution and rich in oxygen. The average length of these fish is only 6 to 8 inches, but what they lack in size, they make up for in raw beauty. If you are willing to hike a good ways into the backcountry of Pisgah National Forest then you will be rewarded by catching North America's most beautiful trout. McDowell County has a few creeks that hold these native fish, and we know exactly where you can find them. We offer half and full day trips.

Half Day for 1-2 anglers (4 hours): $300

Full Day for 1-2 anglers (6-8 hours): $400

For a third angler add $100.

Western North Carolina is home to an abundant amount of wild rainbow trout in its high altitude creeks where the water rarely exceeds 70 degrees. These fish are eager to take dry flies from the surface, or drifting nymphs through swift riffles. If you are more interested in quantity opposed to size, then this trip is for you. Wild Brown Trout Trips

Brown trout were introduced to the mountains of North Carolina in the 1900’s. Wild brown trout are reclusive, and usually hang out close to structure. Wild brown trout grow to respectable sizes here in the mountains. Our favorite way to chase these fish is using small streamers on some of the bigger creeks and rivers after a rainstorm. If you are interested in chasing these beautiful fish then give us a call. We offer half and full day trips.

Half Day for 1-2 anglers (4 hours): $300

Full Day for 1-2 anglers (6-8 hours): $400
